Scottish cyber crime expert recommends lying online

By Clare Carswell

A SCOTTISH cyber crime expert has urged online users to lie about personal details to prevent identity theft.

Dr Ian Ferguson a digital forensics expert based at the University of Abertay has warned people to be careful about the information they provide online.

Giving out personal details such as date of birth on the internet leaves online users open to crime.

He said: “There was never any reason why someone should tell the truth with birth dates or your mother’s maiden name – it’s just a secret you can remember.”

Susan Boyle dedicates debut album to mum

By Cara Sulieman

SUSAN Boyle has dedicated her record-breaking debut album to her mum – saying she promised her she would “do something” with her life.

I Dreamed a Dream hit the shops today, but had already broken the sales record for pre-orders on website Amazon.

With bookies refusing to take bets on the CD reaching the top spot in the album charts this week, the debut was a success before it even hit the shelves.

And SuBo makes several references to her mum on the cover sleeve, dedicating her most famous song I Dreamed a Dream to Bridget Boyle, who died in 2007 aged 91.

Bookies refuse to offer odds on SuBo number one

By Cara Sulieman

SUSAN Boyle was all smiles during a flying visit back home to Blackburn today (Thurs) as bookies announced they were refusing to take any bets on her album reaching number one next week.

Bookmakers William Hill said they were “one hundred per cent certain” that the 48-year-old’s debut would top the charts after canvassing retailers the length and breadth of the UK.

And they have also tipped her as a favourite for the Christmas number one in the album charts – expecting her to beat Leona Lewis and even the Pope to the top spot.

Asked if she was excited about the prospect of bagging her first number one album, SuBo grinned broadly and gave the thumbs up, before waving goodbye.

Chef Gordon Ramsay’s triple Michelin star career is finally toast

By Shaun Milne

HE IS the potty mouthed award winning Scots chef who has earned a galaxy of coveted Michelin Stars for his fine dining restaurants across the UK – but it seems that Gordon Ramsay’s success laden career is finally toast.

A dinner place at the Chef’s Table at his Maze restaurant in London’s Grosvenor Square may cost £125 per head or £150 at the famed Claridges restaurant.

But his latest contribution to the world of gastronomic excellence is a humble toaster costing £60 for a two sliced model or a crisp £85 to upgrade to the four-sliced option.Hire our photographers for your PR event - 0131 561 2230

No fuss for Susan Boyle as film crew checks in

By Cara Sulieman

FANS failed to turn out for a Susan Boyle documentary when a Japanese film crew visited the Britain’s Got Talent star’s hometown of Blackburn today.

Two of SuBo’s biggest fans flew over from the States to meet up with a crew from Japan’s state broadcasters NHK to show them around the West Lothian town.

But they couldn’t find any of the singer’s fans so resorted to giving out badges featuring Susan’s smiling face to bemused passers-by.

Leslie McMillan – who had travelled from New York – said: “We just wanted to see where Susan Boyle was from and what her life was like before she became famous.”

Banned rape computer game still available on internet

RapeLay Cover

By Alexander Lawrie and Michael McLeod

A BANNED Japanese computer game that lets players simulate raping girls is still available on the internet.

RapeLay casts players into the role of a violent sex maniac, and centers on a male character that stalks and rapes a mother and her two daughters.

Now politicians have slammed the computer rape game after all UK outlets, including Amazon and eBay, banned people from buying the sick game in February

Keith Vaz MP called the game’s content “utterly shocking” during a recent debate in Parliament.

Since the UK-wide ban it has now leaked back onto the internet, with online sites such as Rapidshare and Files Tube offering it as a free download.

Reviews state that players can interact with virtual girls using the mouse cursor, and even gang up with up to five online gamers to attack virtual victims.
