HARRY Potter author JK Rowling has made a list of top power brokers following the global success of her wizard novels.
The Edinburgh-based author has been branded as one of the world’s ‘most influential’ people and joins Bill Gates and Steven Spielberg in the league table compiled by American business magazine Forbes.
Although Forbes estimated Rowling’s fortune at £675m ($1 billion) she is ranked next to Gates ($53 billion) and Spielberg ($3 billion) because of her cultural reach.
Forbes placed Rowling at 937th place in the world’s 1,000 richest people.
THEY were once inseparable and shot to stardom together, but Susan Boyle and her beloved cat Pebbles have been living apart for eight months.
The Britain’s Got Talent sensation – whose debut album topped the charts around the world – has visited her 11-year-old cat just three times since last July, it has been revealed.
Pebbles now lives with the elderly friend of one of Boyle’s management team in Wanstead, East London, after Simon Cowell said that travelling with a cat was a problem.
Retired accountant Pamela Eaton-Browne, who has been looking after Peebles for around eight months, said she is given just £4 per day to fund the cat’s lavish tastes.
The 76-year-old said: “One day Simon Cowell said to my friend, ‘do you know anyone who will look after this cat, because Susan’s flying all over the world and what do you do with the cat?’ Continue reading →
SUSAN Boyle was all smiles during a flying visit back home to Blackburn today (Thurs) as bookies announced they were refusing to take any bets on her album reaching number one next week.
Bookmakers William Hill said they were “one hundred per cent certain” that the 48-year-old’s debut would top the charts after canvassing retailers the length and breadth of the UK.
And they have also tipped her as a favourite for the Christmas number one in the album charts – expecting her to beat Leona Lewis and even the Pope to the top spot.
Asked if she was excited about the prospect of bagging her first number one album, SuBo grinned broadly and gave the thumbs up, before waving goodbye.
BRITAIN’S Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle was interviewed on the Oprah Winfrey Show last night – and telly bosses had to add subtitles so her American fans could understand her.
The 48-year-old star was filmed for the chat show from the living room of her West Lothian home.
And she appeared through video link with Oprah and Simon Cowell on special episode The World’s Got Talent show last night (MON) in the US.
But producers of the show added subtitles to her video at the last minute after fears that their viewers wouldn’t understand her broad Scottish accent.
A TV crew was given an exclusive guided tour of Susan Boyle’s house yesterday – for the Oprah Winfrey show.
Footage from inside her modest council house in Blackburn, West Lothian, will be beamed to millions of viewers across America when singing sensation Susan is interview by the Queen of American TV.
The US chat show host has had the Scottish spinster on her radar ever since her stunning performance on Britain’s Got Talent.
And yesterday she began to make good her promise of featuring the Scot by having a camera team film a day in the surprise singing sensation’s life.
