Daughters of millionaire paedophile “jumped for joy” when he died

By Michael MacLeod

THE abused daughters of a vindictive millionaire paedophile who disinherited them in favour of the Girl Guides have told of how they “jumped for joy” when he died.

Sisters Tori Dante and Dianne Paul endured nearly 20 years of nightly rapes at the hands of their late father Reginald Forester-Smith, a celebrity photographer who was jailed for eight years after they exposed his horrific sex attacks.

He left the majority of his £1.2million estate to Girlguiding Scotland, in what his daughters feel was a sick parting shot for their role in revealing his “sex maniac” double life.

He chose to leave the cash to the Guides “in celebration of the life” of his late wife Sheena, who held Guide camps at the plush family home, the Luce Estate, in Annan, throughout the 1980s. Continue reading

Police announce new crackdown on the back of Operation Algebra

Lothian and Borders Police

By Cara Sulieman

SICKENED detectives last night warned Scotland’s secret paedophiles: We’re coming to get you.

Cops launched a new crackdown – codenamed Operation Alba – which will for the first time see specialist teams hunt out vile perverts rather than having to wait and react to child sex crimes that have already happened.

Police launched the operation today (Thurs) – the same day two ring-leaders of Scotland’s largest known paedophile ring were sentenced.

Neil Strachan and James Rennie both received life sentences at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Police warn child sex beast could be on loose in Edinburgh

By Shaun Milne

A SEX beast described by a judge as being “an addictive paedophile” could be on the loose in Scotland.

Lothian and Borders Police issued an alert today (wed) that James Warke may have travelled to Edinburgh following intelligence passed onto them by detectives at  Greater Manchester.

Warke, 47, has a vile record spanning more than two decades of abusing young boys and vulnerable adults, including the abduction of a 12-year-old boy that finally saw him jailed.

WANTED: James Warke

WANTED: James Warke

He preyed on vulnerable men and impressionable children, particularly those who had fallen out with their parents.

Attack

Now it is feared he may have taken a bus or a train north to Edinburgh after failing to check in at Rochadale Police Station last Friday.

Police also want to interview him over an alleged sex attack on a 20-year-old man last Saturday.

Sources at Greater Manchester Police say they had been tipped off that Warke was in Edinburgh – but said they could not confirm the claim.

It was thought he may have been seen boarding a bus to the Scottish capital.

Lothian and Borders Police said they had received information that Warke had landed on their patch “in the last few days”. And they warned that members of the public should not approach him. Continue reading

Paedo who groomed Harry Potter actress chased from home

PAEDOPHILE-DOUGLAS1By Rory Reynolds

A SEX offender has been rescued by police after a gang of furious vigilante locals descended on his home.

Plain-clothes police in unmarked cars escorted ex-soldier Douglas McNaught from his home in Prestonfield Avenue, Edinburgh, for the second time in a week after being harassed by a baying mob last Thursday.

Last week police took the 61-year-old away after his car was vandalised and he was intimidated by local residents.

He returned only for the same to happen again on Thursday, with neighbours determined to rid their area of the convicted paedophile – who was jailed in 1993 for lewd, indecent and libidinous practices towards a young girl.

It was later found that he had carried out a two-year campaign of abuse against the underage girl. Continue reading

Teacher banned for life after admitting affair with pupil

GTCS Logo

By Alexander Lawrie

A SCOTS teacher who admitted to having sex with a 15 year-old pupil has been banned from teaching for life.

Alison Smith, 30, from Aberdeen, was struck from the teaching register after a General Teaching Council Scotland panel found the special needs teacher unfit to carry on working in schools.

In striking Smith’s name from the register the GTCS sub-committee said the teacher’s actions had “had harmed the child”.

The guilt-ridden teacher was forced to hand herself into police after it emerged she had slept with the underage boy on June 15 2008.

Smith was handed a sentence of 18 month’s probation and ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service when she appeared in front of Aberdeen Sheriff Court in January.

Sex clinic nurse rips off patients

James Collins

By Paul Thornton

A NURSING assistant at a secure clinic for sex offenders stole hundreds of pounds from the perverts during day trips to Edinburgh.

James Collins, 35, was looking after the offenders from the Glenbrook facility in Corstorphine, Edinburgh and was asked to withdraw money from their bank accounts.

But Collins – who was suspended and sacked over the thefts – took double the amount they needed and pocketed half.

In three separate days he managed to steal £600 from the accounts of three separate residents.

And yesterday (Friday) at Edinburgh Sheriff Court Boyle admitted six charges of theft from a Royal Bank of Scotland cash machine in the capital’s St John’s Road.

Fiscal depute Tom Crosbie told the court that Boyle stole the cash on three days in August last year to pay off debts. Continue reading

Record number of kids call Childline over sex abuse claims

By Karrie Gillett

DESPERATE children in Scotland are speaking out about sexual abuse more than ever before.

Worrying new figures have revealed that the number of calls from kids to a charity helpline has nearly doubled in the last three years.

And the shocking statistics reveal that 127 cries for help to Childline regarding sexual abuse are made by children under seven years old.

The figures from the NSPCC show that a record 2,849 children were counseled about sexual abuse in the last three years – the highest number in the charity’s 18-year history.

The service said that recent storylines in TV soaps had helped to make more children aware of what sexual abuse is.

Elaine Chalmers, head of ChildLine in Scotland said: “We believe calls have gone up partly because of awareness campaigns targeted at children like the NSPCC “Don’t Hide It” campaign.

“Child sex abuse storylines on programmes such as Eastenders also encourage children to speak out.

“As a result, more children now understand what sexual abuse is and are increasingly willing to turn to ChildLine for help.”

The telephone lifeline-– which has 14 bases around the UK –  is currently able to answer two-thirds of the 2.3m calls it receives every year.

Last year, the NSPCC launched a three-year appeal to raise £50m to expand the 24-hour service with the aim of ensuring every call gets answered.

The latest figures are a great cause for concern as they show an increase of 49 per cent in calls made about sexual abuse since the last figure of 1,908 in 2004-5.

Across the UK, the charity said 13,237 calls about sexual abuse were made to ChildLine – an increase of 53 per cent over three years.

And of this figure, the majority of children were being abused by someone they knew well – with 59 per cent claiming they were suffering at the hands of a family member.

A further 29 per cent said they had been sexually abused by someone else known to them, and of the thousands of children counselled, 61 per cent were aged twelve to fifteen.

Ms Chalmers added: “Every day, ChildLine receives dozens of harrowing calls about sexual abuse from children, some of whom are very young indeed.

“Children phone to talk in confidence about suffering different kinds of sexual abuse, the vast majority of the abusers being people they know, either within their families, or the wider family circle.

“ They dare not speak about it, or ask for help, for fear of the consequences. Many of them have been threatened or intimidated into silence. ”

The charity said the need for the helpline service has never been more obvious with the rising demand in kids who feel ready to speak out.

The NSPCC Child’s Voice Appeal hopes to raise enough funds to introduce new technology and more trained volunteers to man the phone lines.

Esther Rantzen, ChildLine founder and President, said the service urgently needed to be expanded so that every child could receive help.

She said: “These tragic calls come from children who have found the courage to ring a ChildLine counsellor. Yet there are many children whose cries for help cannot be answered because ChildLine simply does not have enough resources to answer every call.

“Our nightmare is the child who plucks up the courage to ring, fails to get through, and never dares try again.

“As a ChildLine counsellor, I have experienced first-hand these heart-wrenching calls from children who feel utterly alone until they make the call, I know the hope we provide these children literally saves precious young lives.”

Retired soldier swapped kiddie porn texts

By Paul Thornton

A RETIRED soldier has admitted possessing and distributing sickening videos of girls as young as five years old being raped.

Ian Horner, 60, sent a convicted sex offender a video of a man performing a sex act on a girl as young as 12 years following a string of lurid texts with his fellow pervert.02ianhorner

Horner, who served 12 years in the army, was caught in possession of a further four videos of children being raped by men when police raided his Edinburgh home.

The pervert was caught when police were tipped-off that Richard Hewitt, who had been banned from using the internet in 2005, was using a mobile telephone to access the web to feed his sickening lust.

When officers in England searched his phone they found the perverted correspondence from Horner, who was posing as a young girl as he sent videos and sordid messages.

At Edinburgh Sheriff Court Horner admitted possession of four indecent videos of children.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of distributing an indecent video.

Fiscal depute Dev Kapadia told the court how Hewitt had been convicted of possessing indecent images of children in 2005.

He was slapped on the sex offenders register and banned from using the internet.

But police in Cheshire were warned in 2007 that Hewitt had been using a mobile telephone to access the web.

He was arrested and his phone and sim cards examined by experts who found the video which Horner had sent him.

Mr Kapadia said the footage was a 13-second video of a man performing a sex act on a girl of between 12 and 14 years old.

The film was rated in the second highest category on the scale used to measure depravity.

Officers also found a string of text messages sent from “Niki” during the early hours of August 12, 2007.

The five messages, which were traced to a phone registered to Horner’s address, included references to rape, as well as asking Hewitt if he liked young girls.

One read: “Do you like rape too… Have you got lil girl with you just now xxx”

The Cheshire Constabulary passed the information to Lothian and Borders Police who raided an ex-serviceman’s home where he had been staying and seized his mobile phone on March 15, 2008.

They also found four videos, also of the second most depraved rating, of girls aged between five and eight years old being raped by adult males.

Mr Kapadia said: “The accused admitted to the police that he used the tag Niki and that he pretended to be a 14-year-old girl and that he sent texts to Hewitt.

“He also admitted sending one video.

“He initially admitted that the girl in the video was underage but retracted that and said he thought she was border-line.”

Horner, of Hazelwood Grove, Edinburgh, was placed on the sex offenders register and will be sentenced in March.
