Hotels deal with 75,000 missing teddy bears

SEEN AS a comforting companion for children across the country, it seems adults are also getting a good night’s sleep with the help of their teddy bear.

Over 75,000 of the cuddly chaps have been mistakenly left behind at hotels in the last year, with businessmen and woman calling the hotel in a desperate attempt to get them back.

Staff at Travelodges across the UK have done their best to reunite their customers with their bedtime pals.

If they can’t find the rightful owner then the toys are given to the local charity shop so they can find a new loving home.

SPL stars join bid to stub out tobacco industry cash handouts

SCOTLAND’S top footballers have backed a campaign to show the red card to a £300million taxpayer handout to the tobacco trade.

Euro MP Alyn Smith has signed up the skippers from Rangers, Hearts and Aberdeen in a battle against public money supporting tobacco farmers.

David Weir, Michael Stewart and Mark Kerr have all joined the SNP MEP’s campaign, it is hoped could tackle cancer death levels.

Around one third of the population of Europe smokes, and the habit is estimated to be behind one million fatalities.

Hall of fame honour for haunted Rangers’ record scorer

A RANGERS player wrongly blamed for one of Scottish football’s most tragic accidents is to be honoured in a hall of fame.

Striker Sam English quit football aged 28 after a fateful tackle killed Celtic goalkeeper John Thomson in 1931.

An official enquiry cleared English of any blame, but he was routinely booed by opposing fans and released by the Gers within a year.

But he still holds the record as Rangers’ top league goalscorer with 44 goals in 35 games.
