Note reveals Burns’ love for muse

A LOVE note written by Scotland’s most celebrated poet declaring his feelings for the muse of many of his most passionate works has, at last, been confirmed by a team of scholars and researchers at Glasgow University.

Held by the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway, the note is the only first-hand account of Burns’s heart rendering relationship with his lover, Highland Mary.

On an empty page to accompany his song The Highland Lassie, O, Burns tenderly describe his Highland love.

New tartan commemorates Burns’s 250th anniversary

A new tartan has been created to honour the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns’ birth.

The patterns will feature colours that represent his most famous poems, and it is hoped that money from the special tartan will go towards a museum to celebrate his life.

The luxury Scottish fashion brand Johnstons of Elgin has designed a limited edition range featuring the new Anniversary Check pattern.

The collection includes two scarves and a travel rug made from lambs wool and cashmere, with one pound from the sale of each item going towards the building of the National Trust’s Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway. Continue reading
