Family and colleagues pay tribute to “charismatic” cyclist killed in accident

SHOCKED colleagues of a cyclist who was killed in a tragic road accident at the weekend paid tribute to a “charismatic” and “popular” man today.

Dr Kostas Tourlas died in the collision with a Fiat Ulysse near Kirkliston Sports Centre on Saturday.

Workmates of the 37-year-old spoke of their “shock and disbelief” at his death.

Dr Tourlas had worked at London-based software consultancy firm Adelard since 2003 and moved to the capital about a year ago.

Daniel O’Donnell fans queue TWO DAYS for tickets

FANS of Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell started queuing for tickets TWO DAYS before they went on sale.

A group of around 20 admirers were patiently waiting outside the Usher Hall in Edinburgh tonight (Friday) and many had been there since Thursday.

Mainly ladies, they came armed with padded deck-chairs, sleeping bags and waterproofs as they waited for tickets to go on sale tomorrow morning (Saturday).

Anne Meehan, 64, and her husband Peter had travelled from Northumberland to bag their favourite front row seats, arriving at 9.30pm on Thursday.

Funeral of tragic teen

THE FUNERAL of one of the 17-year-old boys killed in a horror car crash last Friday is to take place this weekend.

James Whitecross was driving a Renault Clio with his friend Daniel Neil, also 17, who was in the passenger seat when they collided head-on into another car in Macmerry, East Lothian.

Friends and family created a memorial at the scene, decking it with flowers, card and football strips.

The service for James will take place in Tranent Parish Church this Saturday at 9.45am before moving on to Tranent Cemetery at 10.30am.
